Where's the nearest beach to Bangkok - I went to Sri Ratcha once but wasn't impressed. Hua Hin is just a bit too far. Anything better around here?
have you ever been to pataya?

Further down from Bangsan and Pattaya beach, you will see Rayong or Samed. It's about 2 hours from Bangkok. You can dive there as well. The beach is so clean. Nice place to visit.

If you would like to have vacation on nice beach than u should go to Samet island or Chang island. There have many hotel and resort you can choose the best one ,, the beach is so nice and clean ..
PLEASE DO NOT GO TO CHA-UM there is veryyyyy dirty and poor .. i was there one time , a lot of thai people and very stinky water , no private.
Pattaya is so BAD solution and a lot of prostitues and bar girl ,a lot mafia then becareful ..
If you really want to see the best in thailand so u can book ticket and go to Samui, P.P island , Phuket , Kho Lanta .
Have good trip :)

Cha Am Beach is 160 km / 100 miles south of Bangkok. Cha Am beach is a quiet beach area close to Bangkok. The beach area offers modern hotels and resorts along the coast and beaches. Cha Am is a quiet town with a beach road that is very busy on weekends. Popular summer holiday destination. Many luxury Cha Am accommodation hotels and resorts are located south of the town directly on the beach.
Khao Takiab beach and Khao Takiab Bay in the Hua Hin Thailand area offer a choice of beaches, swimming, sailing, boat trips and fishing at offshore islands. These are relaxing Thailand beaches near Bangkok. Also temples, elephant rides, horse cart rides, off-road all terrain rides and nearby golf. The busy town of Hua Hin is just 10 minutes for restaurants and entertainment plus night markets and shopping. All just over 2 hrs 30 mins from Bangkok by highway.
Pattaya is a lively and busy beach resort area about one and a half hours by expressway from Bangkok City or Bangkok Airport. The main Pattaya beach area is busy but there are quieter beach areas at North Pattaya and nearby Jomtien Beach.
Thanks...

I've been to Thailand but never been to any resorts. We've been to Thailand for a vacation but only went to see the crocodile farm and crocodile shows (it was scary) and elephant shows (it was fun). We also went to the holy temples where we can see holy Buddhas. Hope we can go back to Thailand soon and visit their beautiful beaches.

The main options for this are Pattaya, Hua Hin, Cha-am, Ko Samet and, to a lesser extent, Ko Chang.
Pattaya is a very developed beach resort only a couple of hours from Bangkok, but the beach itself is only average at best by Thai standards. Come here for a vibrant nightlife scene, but it's best to look elsewhere for decent beaches.
Ko Samet has very nice beaches, but gets very busy and much more expensive at weekends, Thai public holidays and during the tourist high season - book ahead if you can. The main beach, Diamond beach, caters mainly to rich Thai tourists and is very developed. The beach has also been a bit spoiled by the dirt and pollution that this has caused. Other beaches are much quieter, cheaper and more remote. Facilities can be basic, and generally accommodation and food are overpriced all over the islands. On the plus side some of the beaches are very beautiful, right up amongst Thailand's best. Ko Samet is a national park and, in line with national policy, charges an entrance fee of 200B per person for foreigners, 20B for Thais.

Looking for beaches on a Bangkok trip for water sports or having fun? Well, you will have to travel to the nearby places, as Bangkok itself does not have any beach.
Hua Hin and Cha am with Pranburi are among the famous beaches near Bangkok. These places also have great sight seeing, temples, elephant village and treks.

I think Bang Saen, Rayong, and Koh Samed. Bang Saen is the nearest to Bangkok and a place few western tourists go to.
