Ah I missed that. Has anyone some pics of that red lotus sea festival. Should we start a thread about it?

Do be sure to visit the Red Lotus Sea at the correct time and the correct time of year. The best blooms are to be witnessed from December through February, during the cool season. Whilst some unscrupulous agents and many boast operators will claim that the lake can be visit all year round - and in theory they are correct - you will only see the lake carpeted in pink during the cool season as above.

In addition, the flowers that predominate at the red lotus sea are in fact pink water lillies. These bloom in the early morning and gradually close up theire petals as the sun rises and the weather gets hotter. As such, your best plan is to take a boat trip from sunrise onwards, but not later than say 10 a.m. It is now possible to stay at or near the Red Lotus Sea in a few local properties, varying from the budget Hormduk resort to Green Gecko, a full board private pool villa.
