The Historical City of Ayutthaya and Loy Krathong Festival

The Ayutthaya municipality are inviting visitors to join the Loy Krathong annual festival to be held held on the full moon day of the 12th lunar month in Thai style on November 16.

The festival will feature four themes for which Suriothai Monument and three other places have been chosen as venues showcasing civilization, cultural and stage performances respectively.

Ayutthaya waterways rivers, klongs, even hotel swimming pools will be ablaze with dazing lights on the evening of Nov. 16, when the Kingdom celebrates "Loy Krathong" one of the year's most-awaited festivals in Thailand.

On festive occasions, people jam the city to witness the light festival in progress. It's as if the city would burst."
When the ancient Ayutthaya city was restored to its former splendor as the Historical Palace of Ayutthaya, efforts were made to bring back ancient festivals and their legendary festive atmosphere. This brought back the light festival of Loy Krathong.
It has remained a major attraction since.
